The Xiaomi Mi 4i is the latest addition to Xiaomi’s Indian portfolio. Xiaomi launched the phone globally in its event in New Delhi, a first of its kind event for Xiaomi. The Mi 4i has a unibody design with polycarbonate body, it also has a soft touch matte finish with an anti-grease coating. Even though it’s a plastic body, it looks and feels good. The phone supports 4G dual-SIM & dual-standby, and 16GB internal storage. It runs on MIUI 6 on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has a 3120 mAh battery with fast charging technology & many battery saving features. Overall, the phone has great performance with one of the best displays in this range but, it doesn’t have microSD card, if that’s okay with you, it’s a great choice.
3. Samsung Galaxy Grand Max:
After loosing its ground in this range, Samsung is back with a bang. The Grand Max runs on the Snapdragon 410 Processor paired with 1.5 GB of RAM and the performance of the phone is good, smooth and lag-free. It has a 5.25 inches screen with 720 x 1280 pixels HD display which is pretty decent and gives good viewing experience. Another highlight of the phone is its camera. The Grand Max scores Max in the camera department, it has a 13 MP rear camera which is very good and offers decent camera features. It also has a great 5 MP front camera. It sports 16 GB internal storage and has a pretty large expandable memory of 64 GB. The phone runs on Android Kitkat and with the Touchwiz skin of Samsung, the UI of the phone is very good, its beautiful and smooth. On the outside, it has the usual Samsung design but the back panel is something you will feel nice. It has a Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery which can power the phone for a day. The Galaxy E5 with AMOLED HD display is also available at this price, but it has a 8 MP camera with almost similar other specs.
4. Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen):
Well it’s on the 4th spot now! The Moto G 1st & 2nd Gen phones collectively ruled the top spot in this list for more than 1 year. New phones are launched now with much better specs but the Moto G still offers some great values. The Moto G (2nd Gen) sports a 5-inch HD (720x1020p) display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor and 1 GB RAM. The phone is 10.99mm thick and weighs 149 gram just a little heavier than the older model. It comes with water-resistant nano coating and supports Dual Sim. The phone runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat out of the box which is now upgradable to Android v5.0 Lollipop. Not to forget that it has the stock Android UI which delivers the pure Android experience. With the Moto G you can always get the future Android updates faster than the flagship phones. It has a 8 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera. Well the camera quality can’t match the phones above but it’s still decent. It has 16 GB internal 32 GB expandable storage. It has excellent build quality and very smooth & lag-free performance. Another advantage to buy the Moto G is that, it is a very popular phone globally and it is always there in the news so, it will always get the attention of the developers and the company. Overall, though it’s at the 4th spot, its in no manner a bad buying choice. It may not have the strongest specs but, it has a good balance of everything and it gives a great user experience.
5. Lenovo P70:
Smartphones have evolved much but not their battery life. If you forget to charge your phone in the night, the moment you realize this fact the next morning before leaving for the office, it breaks panic and havoc, you madly run-over to the charging point to save your phone from dying. Well there has to be a phone which can assure you, you aren’t a criminal if you forget to charge your phone and it can still run through your day. It’s not like that there haven’t been 4,000 or 5,000 mAh battery phones but, those phones only focused on the battery whereas a user wants all the features and specs of the top phones with exceptional battery. The Lenovo P70 is the exact one with a 4,000 mAh battery and great features. It runs on the Octa-core 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT6752 Processor coupled with 2 GB RAM, which ensures good performance. It has a 5 inches HD display which is decent, very good 13 MP & 5 MP cameras, Android v4.0 kitkat, dual sim, 4G and 16 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 32 GB. Overall, if battery is your concern, this can be a great choice.
6. HTC Desire 626G Plus:
Beautiful!!! This is the feeling you get when you first see the phone. The newly launched HTC Desire 626G Plus carries forward the new design trend of the mid ranged HTC devices like the Desire 826. The phone’s design is superbly awesome and you can fall in love with it instantly. It’s not only beautiful from outside but the HTC Sense UI is also pretty beautiful. The phone is also good when it comes to the hardware which runs the phone. It sports an Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 Mediatek MT6752 Processor and 1 GB of RAM which runs the phone very smoothly. It has 5 inches HD screen and the display quality is very good. In the HTC Desire 626G Plus, HTC has increased the camera from 8 MP in the Desire 620 to 13 MP rear camera, it also has a 5 MP front camera and both the cameras of the phone are very good. It supports dual sim but doesn’t have 4G (LTE) which its competitors are offering at the same price. It has decent battery life, 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded upto 32 GB. One thing to note is that, the back of the phone is glossy so it attracts fingerprints easily. Overall, if you want a great design phone with good performance from among the top brands then this is the one. HTC also offers bigger 5.5 inches HTC Desire 816G Plus (Octa Core), it can also be a good choice if you want the design of HTC with a bigger screen.
7. Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo:
It’s another Samsung phone in this list. Well what a comeback from Samsung, as Samsung has completely lost the grounds in this range as it hadn’t had a single good phone from over 6 months which featured consistently in the Top 5’s, now they have 2 in top 10. Talking about the S3 Neo, it is actually a very good device and another choice if you want to buy a good Samsung phone. It sports a more comfortable screen size of 4.8 inches and it has got the best display if you want a phone from a reputed international brand. It features a Super AMOLED HD display with 306 ppi pixel density. The camera and the battery life of the phone is not amongst the best but they are acceptable. The phone is very good on storage with its 16 GB internal and 64 GB expandable memory. Overall, the S3 Neo can be a good choice if you are looking for a better design and a comfortable screen size which is not too big.
8. Lenovo Vibe Z K910:
The Lenovo Vibe Z has got very powerful specs, typically the specs of the previous generation flagship phones. The phone has got good and premium looks although it looks like a metal body it has actually got plastic body with a nice matte finish on the back. With 3,000 mAh battery, its battery backup is also very good. It runs on top of Lenovo’s highly customized skin. The phone has also got the Android Kitkat update and runs pretty smoothly over it. It has got 16 GB of internal storage which cannot be expanded. Overall, this phone can be a good choice if you are looking for better & powerful specifications.
9. Sony Xperia T3:
This phone made a disastrous entry last year with a price tag of almost 27,000. Don’t know what Sony was thinking but they priced this phone much higher than their other phones which had better specs. Well the anger of people soon made them realize that a company can’t fool people. Now, the phone is priced under 15k, it’s still on the higher side when compared with the competition but these international brands will always charge a premium price. The Xperia T3 packs the usually beautiful and premium design of Sony, another thing noteworthy is that it’s just 7mm thick. It runs on the 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8228 Quad Core Processor which is decent and it also has 1 GB of RAM which makes the performance of the phone good. It sports a 5.3 inches HD screen turning out a 277 ppi pixel density so, the display is not amongst the best but is decent. The Xperia M2 has an 8 MP rear camera and like always, its good. But this phone may disappoint you if use front camera more often as it has only 1.1 MP front camera. It has a 2500 mAh battery which gives good battery backup. Overall, it has a very beautiful design and the phone can be a good buy for normal usage. At this price the Xperia M2 is also available.
10. Micromax Canvas Knight:
The Canvas Knight boasts of the powerful specifications that it packs. But don’t just flow away with the specs, its performance is very good but it has small issues like the big 16 MP is not truly upto the mark, some users are facing a problem that it gets heated up quickly while playing games and the battery life is average. Although it has some issues but it certainly offers everything at a cheaper price. Those who want high performance with their smartphone, and are ready to compromise with the quality a little bit, can go with the Knight!
